World Vision
An organization known for helping those in need around the globe, World Vision organizes relief and aid efforts across thousands of volunteers and staff workers on a daily basis. This project was aimed at redesigning the internal portal while creating a set of extensible design guidelines which could be rolled out to admins who are maintaining their regional sites.
Challenge of consistency
This portal keeps remote relief teams connected across timezones who aren’t always communicating with one another but share resources when it comes to improving how news is distributed on their respective sites.
One huge challenge was finding a sense of consistency between the regional sites. Early analysis showed that visual and functional differences between each site forced users to relearn navigation paradigms and resource locations.
This challenged moved the team toward resolving a set of guidelines based on qualitative internal research, published usability studies and direct feedback from World Vision site admins. This initial work helped us identify the problematic parts of the current system and develop the right solutions.
